このオプションが使用可能な場合、RFC 6855では（IMAPの7ビットルールを破り）引用符("")付の文字列についてUTF8エンコーディングが使用可能であるとしています。 Gmailのようなポピュラーなサーバーでは、UNICODE文字列のエンコードとデコードに利用するためにこの機能をサポートしています。この機能はメールボックスの検索とリスティングに有用です。この機能が有効な場合、メールボックス名に(Imap.MailboxNameEncodingの代わりに)UTF8エンコーディングが使用されます。
ユーザーはIMAP.Connection.Encodingプロパティをチェックすることで、どのようなエンコーディングが使用されるかを決めることができます。普段の7ビット処理では System.Text.Encoding.ASCIIが使用されます。そして「UTF8=ACCEPT」機能が使用可能でかつ使用されている場合は System.Text.Encoding.UTF8が使用されます。
